Wmmt's fall fund drive!
We've got BIG news! Read our letter to learn more.
Join the Cornbread and Soupbean Nation!
Hey WMMT Fans,
I just can’t believe how fast time is moving in 2024. And I can’t believe the progress we’ve made with the station, despite the summer heat.
The biggest news I can share with you is that Phase I of construction has officially started on our studio space in beautiful downtown Whitesburg, right on Main Street. I see so much possibility in the space. Nearly 900 square feet– a big step up from the Possum Den– with the adequate tools, resources, and most importantly, space, for us to bring you better programming. It’s a special (and emotional) time, another big transition during a period of tragedy and loss, although there’s been plenty of perseverance, too.
As a a nation, we're heading into another major election that will define the future and health of our neighbors and communities. No matter what politicians in Washington say, no matter what they promise to do for you, remember that we have each other. Investing time and effort in one another, and in the spaces that truly serve us, is the antidote that I'm moving forward with.
I hope that we've convinced you that WMMT 88.7 is a space worth investing in, and if you haven't been convinced, it's the perfect time of year to get to know us a little better. Every day, we strive to bring you better educational offerings as well as mountain music, culture, and entertainment, made by and for people just like you and me. You won't find another space quite like this one in Eastern Kentucky, central Appalachia, or the world beyond... we can promise you that!
Let’s all take a little time to celebrate and honor home-grown, community-supported radio this September 18-27 during our Fall Fund Drive!
We’re excited to revamp Robert Gipe’s “One Nation, Underpaid” design, of course, inspired by national current events. We’ll have lots of live music, special programming, and more coming your way, so be on the lookout on our Facebook event page and keep your ears tuned.
We encourage you to make your one-time gift now and be a part of the Soupbean and Cornbread nation– can’t wait to hear from you!
Otherwise, please remember to vote (Kentucky's registration deadline is October 7!), and remember to cherish one another, no matter the outcome.
Thank you,
Teddy Wimer, General Manager
Jared Hamilton, Programming Coordinator
