Hello from all of us here at WMMT 88.7, Mountain Community Radio!
As you may or may not know, WMMT is a public, community station, which means that we rely on the generous gifts from our loyal listeners as well as businesses and organizations that choose to become WMMT supporters.
Our geographical reach and distinctive programming has led us to be one of the top ten most listened to stations in the tri-state region. In fact, a 2008 survey found nearly two thirds of folks sampled (at Hillbilly Days, Home Craft Days, then-Pikeville College, and from other spots around the region) identified themselves as WMMT listeners. Taken in tandem with our broadcast range and our 24/7 online stream, that’s a bunch of neighbors to reach.
With a 15,000 watt transmitter high on Pine Mountain, and five translators throughout the region, WMMT broadcasts throughout Eastern Kentucky, Southwest Virginia, Southern West Virginia, parts of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. If you are just outside of the reach of 88.7 try 88.1 in Big Stone Gap and Coeburn, Virginia, 89.3 in Pikeville and Paintsville, Kentucky, 89.5 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, 101.9 in Harlan, Kentucky, and 91.1 in Hansonville, Virginia.

WMMT is always looking for new volunteers! Whether you have an idea for a show, would like to be a substitute DJ (either in general or for a specific show/genre), would like to learn to use our equipment to produce your very own story, or have any idea whatsoever that you think we could help with / be a part of (feel free, if not encouraged, to get creative here), then get in touch!

Our community DJs keep our station running; on any given schedule, we have over 30 regular DJs in rotation, each with a weekly show.

What is underwriting?
If you’re new to underwriting, it’s a unique, effective way to invest in your organization (and it also happens to support the best little radio station in the whole wide world): a short message describing your organization is regularly read aloud and on-air, either during our programming throughout the week or through a more targeted approach.

In addition, WMMT, as a non-profit community station, boasts some of the most loyal listeners in the area. Listener contributions make up a significant portion of our budget, and a team of almost 50 volunteers helps keep us afloat.
